We have a warm and fuzzy feeling at Nice Shirt towers after this year’s offering for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal finally aired.

Co-directed by Tareq & Stuart Douglas, the campaign features some truly impressive individuals: British Paralympian Richard Whitehead MBE; war hero and Victoria Cross recipient Johnson Beharry; Mark Strong, Bear Grylls, Mumsnet’s Justine Roberts and a host of others.

The film explains what life-changingly significant contributions the WW1 generation made to our world, in a time of deep and dark conflict that puts the current Euro-shambles into perspective.

Humbling stuff with which we are very proud to have been involved.

Stuart’s second film for Shell’s Partnership series is a fascinating insight into the world of professional basketball training – which is increasingly psychological as well as physical.

The film profiles Charlotte based Brandon Payne, who trains Stephen Curry – twice NBA MVP and regarded by many players and analysts as the greatest shooter in NBA history – which I guess makes him an NBA MVP GOAT.

It seems that it’s not enough to be tall, blisteringly fast, strong, accurate and fitter than a butcher’s dog – you also need to have superhuman spatial awareness, the reflexes of a praying mantis, the ability to multitask that would see most of us lie down and start weeping and a calm but unshakable motivation that is frankly beyond most mortals. Oh, and science, lots and lots of science, and then some more science.

Think you’re pretty good at shooting hoops – think again.

We’re excited to share both the trailer and the news that Lucy Bridger’s self-written short film ‘Mothering’ will have it’s UK premiere at the Encounters Festival in September. Encounters is seen as the UK’s leading short film festival. It is renowned for discovering, supporting and developing new talents in filmmaking, and is also BAFTA and Oscar qualifying.

The film tells the story of a young girl, Mia, arriving at her new foster home. When her period arrives in the early hours, help comes in the form of her foster parent’s elderly mother, Pauline.

A Thousand Words · Hamburg Film Fest

A picture speaks a thousand words – so said someone once – but in this case 12 pictures speak 137 words – I know I counted them – every single one -that’s an average of 11.63333333 words a picture, proving that the old adage is inaccurate, lazy and a little bit boastful.

Dubious statistics aside, JJ Keith’s powerful imagery and self -penned words to promote the 2018 Hamburg Film Festival Trailer are by turn funny, emotive, thought-provoking and controversial – as any self-respecting Film Festival ought to be, with Mark Strong’s thoughtful VO read lending a suitably A List range and gravitas to the offering.

This film is nothing to do with injured pipistrelles, unless I missed something. It’s Stuart’s latest film for Shell Lubricants’ Power of Partnerships series, featuring the charismatic Ram Bhandari and his musings on all things cricket and what the sport means to him and to India (everything, by the way).

Ram works twelve hours a day, seven days a week out of a tiny lockup in Bangalore, and every major Indian, and a quite a few Aussie, cricketers come to him to modify or fix their bats.

Shot in a beautifully loose but intimate style, Stuart’s film evokes the soulful chaotic atmosphere of Bangalore and Ram’s world of cricket.

These films for Nivea amply display Tobias’s ability to take a straight forward script and take it to the next level, mixing engaging, funny performances with a heightened and deliciously surreal take on things.
