The film was shot on location in the region of Shenzhen with Stuart’s masterful photography showcasing the city’s fast-growing, dramatic urban landscape with small contrasting vignettes helping to illustrate the film’s message of marching to one’s own drum. It’s an intriguing and gorgeous snapshot of where modern China is today.

A World Cup summer means another global celebration of football, the entire world gripped by the events on the pitch in Brazil and what happens in those all-important 90 minutes. Stuart’s stark film reminds us though that for some, there is a lot more at stake once the final whistle goes then whether or not a team wins or loses.

The basis of the film comes from a recent survey that discovered incidents of domestic violence in the UK rise 25% following a match involving the England national team. A shocking statistic and an important cause is given a powerful platform in Stuart’s sensitively observed spot. The performance from the female lead in combination with the gripping sound makes for an effective and compelling film, delivering a hard-hitting message for us all to consider during this summer’s matches.
